This is a report from Monastery of Our Lady of Consolation, it covers a period of five months that is from January 2026 - May 2026. We had varieties of activities that took place, some were of beautiful memories while others were not but in all these we give thanks to God who Had made it possible and is still helping us.
50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY OF MR AND MRS MOSES ALIYU IDAKWO
The thanksgiving of the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Aliyu Idakwo the parents of Sr. Veronica Moses were held on the 4th day of January 2026 which is a Sunday. The thanksgiving was done at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Igalaogba, Idah Diocese, Kogi State during the 6:30am Mass. It was attended by families, friends, well-wishers and the sisters both from Jalingo and Ejule communities. In his homily, Very Rev Fr. Williams Okolo who is also the chancellor of the diocese thanked God for their lives, appreciated them for living together for the past 50 years despite the challenges in marriages and encouraged others to follow suite. There was a little celebration back in the house after Mass and friends came and celebrated together with them.

5 mois, de janvier à mai 2026. Nous avons mené diverses activités ; certaines nous ont laissé de beaux souvenirs, d’autres moins, mais dans tous les cas, nous rendons grâce à Dieu qui a rendu tout cela possible et qui continue de nous aider.
50e ANNIVERSAIRE DE MARIAGE DE M. ET MME MOSES ALIYU IDAKWO
La cérémonie d'action de grâce marquant le 50e anniversaire de mariage de M. et Mme Moses Aliyu Idakwo, parents de Sœur Veronica Moses, s'est déroulée le dimanche 4 janvier 2026. La célébration a eu lieu à l'église catholique Saint-François-Xavier, à Igalaogba, dans le diocèse d'Idah, dans l'État de Kogi, lors de la messe de 6 h 30. Y ont assisté des membres de la famille, des amis, des sympathisants et les sœurs des communautés de Jalingo et d'Ejule. Dans son homélie, le très révérend père Williams Okolo, qui est également chancelier du diocèse, a remercié Dieu pour leur vie, les a félicités d’avoir vécu ensemble pendant ces 50 dernières années malgré les difficultés du mariage et a encouragé les autres à suivre leur exemple. Une petite fête a eu lieu à la maison après la messe, et des amis sont venus célébrer avec eux.
CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN FOUNDATION FOR PEACE PROJECT
The Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace programmed project was organized by Sr. Esther John on the 24th of January 2026. The project was founded by the foundation with the aim of finding ways whereby peaceful coexistence between the Christians and Muslims can be promoted and also to empower women and youths in the little way possible to have something that they can be doing to help them to be useful to themselves and the community. Some of the items given include piglets, goats, charcoal iron, fertilizers, chicks etc.

Le projet de la Fondation du cardinal Onaiyekan pour la paix a été organisé par Sœur Esther John le 24 janvier 2026. Ce projet a été lancé par la fondation dans le but de trouver des moyens de promouvoir la coexistence pacifique entre chrétiens et musulmans, mais aussi de donner aux femmes et aux jeunes les moyens, dans la mesure du possible, de s'occuper utilement pour eux-mêmes et pour la communauté. Parmi les articles distribués figuraient des porcelets, des chèvres, des fers à repasser au charbon, des engrais, des poussins, etc.
CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN FOUNDATION FOR PEACE PROJECT
The Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace program project was organized by Sr. Veronica Moses on the 7th of February 2026 at Sacred Heart Minor Seminary, Jauro-Yinu. The project was founded by the foundation with the aim of finding ways whereby peaceful coexistence between the Christians and Muslims can be promoted and also to empower women and youths in the little way possible to have something that they can be doing to help them to be useful to themselves and the community. Some of the items given include sewing machine, hair dryer for saloon, Piglets, goats and fertilizers. The Vicar General Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Jalingo Very Rev. Fr. Williams Awoshiri gave a talk on peaceful living between Christians and Muslims in Jauro- Yinu District and Mrs. Maryam Adamu Co- Secretary Inter Religious Dialogue gave the second talk on how women can be agent of peace in the homes and community. The women were all happy after the program and they appreciated the foundation for the support.

Le projet de la Fondation du cardinal Onaiyekan pour la paix a été organisé par Sœur Veronica Moses le 7 février 2026 au Petit Séminaire du Sacré-Cœur, à Jauro-Yinu. Ce projet a été lancé par la fondation dans le but de trouver des moyens de promouvoir la coexistence pacifique entre chrétiens et musulmans, ainsi que de donner aux femmes et aux jeunes les moyens, dans la mesure du possible, de s’engager dans des activités qui leur permettent d’être utiles à eux-mêmes et à la communauté. Parmi les articles distribués figuraient des machines à coudre, des sèche-cheveux pour salons de coiffure, des porcelets, des chèvres et des engrais. Le vicaire général administrateur du diocèse catholique de Jalingo, le très révérend père Williams Awoshiri, a donné une conférence sur la coexistence pacifique entre chrétiens et musulmans dans le district de Jauro-Yinu, et Mme Maryam Adamu, cosecrétaire du dialogue interreligieux, a donné une deuxième conférence sur la manière dont les femmes peuvent être des agents de paix au sein de leur foyer et de leur communauté. Les femmes étaient toutes ravies à l’issue du programme et ont remercié la fondation pour son soutien.
CHAN MEETING
The Chan meeting was held from the 2nd to 6th of February 2026 at Gombe State which comprises of Taraba State, Borno State, Adamawa State, Bauchi State and Gombe State. The administrators and in-charges of clinics and hospitals were in attendance together with Chan official and some representatives from various facilities. We all gathered to discuss about the challenges facing the faith based facilities and look for ways to handle the challenges. There were reports from the different facilities. On the last day of the meeting, each zone came together to familiarize with each other and also have a little discussion on the way forward to revive Chan activities in their various States. Sr. Margaret Orbunde went on behalf of Our Lady Queen of Peace Hospital while Sr. Veronica Moses went on behalf of St. Peter’s Clinic Jauro-Yinu. The meeting was a success to the glory of God.
RÉUNION DU CHAN
La réunion CHAN s’est tenue du 2 au 6 février 2026 dans l’État de Gombe, qui regroupe les États de Taraba, Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi et Gombe. Les administrateurs et responsables des cliniques et des hôpitaux étaient présents, ainsi que des représentants officiels de CHAN et des représentants de divers établissements. Nous nous sommes tous réunis pour discuter des défis auxquels sont confrontés les établissements confessionnels et pour chercher des moyens de les relever. Des rapports ont été présentés par les différents établissements. Le dernier jour de la réunion, chaque zone s’est réunie pour faire connaissance et discuter brièvement de la marche à suivre pour relancer les activités de Chan dans leurs différents États. Sœur Margaret Orbunde représentait l’hôpital Our Lady Queen of Peace, tandis que sœur Veronica Moses représentait la clinique St. Peter’s de Jauro-Yinu. La réunion a été un succès, à la gloire de Dieu.
SR HELEN MARY’S 50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Sr. Helen Mary clocked 50 on the 22nd of February 2026. The celebration started with a thanksgiving during the 7:00am Mass at the Cathedral where the sisters, friends and well-wishers accompanied her to the Altar to thank God for the gift of her life. After Mass during lunch we all sang birthday to her and in the evening after Vespers there was a little celebration. The Infant Jesus Sisters and the Cathedral priests were invited to the celebration. There were display of short drama and dance by the Postulants after we all danced together with the celebrant. Gifts were presented to her by the community, the Infant Jesus Sisters and the Cathedral family. It was indeed a beautiful and a memorable celebration.

DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT
Sisters Mary Ann Musa and Agnes Ogbuzuo lost their mothers to the cold hand of death. Sr. Mary Ann lost her mother on the 17th of March 2026 while Sr. Agnes lost her mum on the 31st of March 2026. It was really a trying moments for us and their families but we give glory to God for the graces He Has given us all to accept it as his will. Sr. Mary Ann’s mother was buried at Maiduguri after the funeral Mass at St. Hilary’s Polo on the 19th of March 2026 while Sr. Agnes’ mother was buried at the family compound in Okwu Emeka Local Government of Imo State after the funeral Mass at St. Paul’s outstation Okwu Emeka of the Immaculate Conception Parish on the 30th of April 2026. We pray God to continue to grant to the families the fortitude to bear this painful loss and for Him to grant eternal rest to all the dead.

AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Les sœurs Mary Ann Musa et Agnes Ogbuzuo ont perdu leur mère, emportée par la mort. Sœur Mary Ann a perdu sa mère le 17 mars 2026, tandis que sœur Agnes a perdu la sienne le 31 mars 2026. Ce fut un moment très difficile pour nous et pour leurs familles, mais nous rendons gloire à Dieu pour la grâce qu’Il nous a accordée à tous d’accepter cela comme sa volonté. La mère de Sœur Mary Ann a été inhumée à Maiduguri après la messe des funérailles célébrée à St. Hilary’s Polo le 19 mars 2026, tandis que la mère de Sœur Agnes a été inhumée dans l’enceinte familiale à Okwu Emeka, dans la municipalité d’Imo State, après la messe des funérailles célébrée à la succursale St. Paul’s d’Okwu Emeka, de la paroisse de l’Immaculée Conception, le 30 avril 2026. Nous prions Dieu de continuer à accorder aux familles la force de supporter cette douloureuse perte et de donner le repos éternel à tous les défunts.
