The Monastery of Our Lady Queen of Angels gave birth to Monastery of Our Lady of Consolation on the 26th day of August 2022 which also marks the profession of our three sisters: Sr Rose Bucham, Sr Agnes and Sr Juliana Joseph which was officially announced by the prioress Rev Sr Christiana Akpa
MONASTERE DE NOTRE DAME DE LA CONSOLATION A JALINGO
Le Monastère de Notre Dame Reine des Anges a donné naissance au Monastère de Notre Dame de la Consolation le 26 août 2022;
cette date marque aussi la profession officiellement annoncée par la Prieure, Sr Christiana Akpa, de nos 3 Sœurs : Sr Rose Bucham, Sr Agnes et Sr Juliana Joseph.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Sr Caroline Gogwim clocked 50th years on the 3rd of July 2022 which took place before the official announcement of new Monastery. Coincidentally it falls on a Sunday with the celebration of the Holy Mass presided by Rev Fr Charles Nyameh the former Cathedral administrator and there was a thanksgiving by the Srs during the Mass, appreciating God for the life of Sr Caroline. There was a grand celebration in the evening which started with Vespers and was attended by the new bishop of Wukari Diocese Most Rev Dr Mark Nzukwein, some priests and some of our lay friends. The celebration was attended by Most Rev Dr Charles Hammawa, some priests, the Infant Jesus Srs and also some of our lay friends. Our students also made a wonderful presentation during the course of the celebration.
Sr Mildred Dadi also celebrated her 50th birthday on the 24th of March 2023. It was also celebrated in a grand way in Mubi community by the Srs and some priests were also invited for the celebration.
FÊTES D'ANNIVERSAIRES
Sr Caroline Gogwim a atteint ses 50 ans le 3 juillet 2022, ce qui eut lieu avant l'annonce officielle du nouveau Monastère. Par coïncidence, cela tombait un dimanche avec la célébration de la Sainte Messe présidée par le Révérend Père Charles Nyameh, l'ancien administrateur de la cathédrale et il y a eu une action de grâce pour les Sœurs pendant la Messe, appréciant Dieu pour la vie de Sœur Caroline. Il y a eu une grande célébration dans la soirée qui a commencé par les Vêpres et a été suivie par le nouvel évêque du diocèse de Wukari, le Révérend Père Mark Nzukwein, quelques prêtres et certains de nos amis laïcs. La célébration a été suivie par Mgr Charles Hammawa, quelques prêtres, Srs de l'Enfant Jésus et aussi certains de nos amis laïcs. Nos étudiants ont également fait une merveilleuse présentation au cours de la célébration.
Sr Mildred Dadi a également célébré son 50e anniversaire, le 24 mars 2023. Il a également été célébré de manière grandiose dans la communauté de Mubi par les Srs et certains prêtres ont également été invités à la célébration.
FEAST OF ST AUGUSTINE
The feast of St Augustine was celebrated on the 28th day of August which was also a Sunday. Almost all the Srs were in attendance. The bishop, some priests and the Infant Jesus Srs were invited. It was well celebrated along with our three Srs whose feast day falls within that month – late Sr Augustina Okeke, Sr Helen Mary Godwin and Sr Monica Yedzumi Emmanuel whose feast was incorporated together with the feast of St Augustine.

La fête de St Augustin était célébrée le 28 août, un dimanche.
Presque toutes les Srs étaient présentes. L'évêque, quelques prêtres et
Srs de l'Enfant Jésus ont été invités. Elle a été bien célébrée avec nos
trois Srs dont le jour de fête tombe dans ce mois - feu Sr Augustina
Okeke, Sr Helen Mary Godwin et Sr Monica Yedzumi Emmanuel dont
la fête a été incorporée avec la fête de St Augustin.
ASPARANT VISIT
We had nine (9) aspirants that came for live in experience from 20th January to 20th February 2023 which lasted for one month. We had a wonderful stay with them and they were also happy to come for the experience. We have to be saying our prayer outside the chapel in the compound under the canopy since we don’t have a big chapel that can accommodate us but hoping that with the building of our new monastery, we will have a spacious chapel that can contain a large number of people.
VISITE D’ASPARANTES
Nous avons eu 9 aspirantes venues vivre une expérience du 20 janvier
au 20 février 2023. Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour avec elles
et elles étaient également heureuses de venir vivre l'expérience. Nous
devons prier à l'extérieur de la chapelle dans l'enceinte sous le dais,
puisque nous n'avons pas de grande chapelle qui puisse nous accueillir ;
en espérant qu'avec la construction de notre nouveau Monastère, nous
aurons une chapelle spacieuse pouvant contenir un grand nombre de
personnes.
CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN FOUNDATION FOR PEACE
A seminar was held on peace building and interreligious dialogue, conflict and transformation which was fully sponsored by Cardinal Onaiyekan foundation and some co- founders. The course normally goes on for three (3) modules, at the end of the second (2nd) module, it is expected that a peace project should be executed by each participant and the project cuts across both Christians and Muslims, it is meant for empowerment and skill acquisition which will go a long way to alleviate poverty in their communities. After the module three (3), it is expected that the fellow are fully equipped with skills and knowledge of interreligious dialogue, conflict management and peace building.
- Fellows will also be able to train other people in their communities which brings about multiplier effects on the process.
- Increase in community cooperation is achieved.
- Fellows will become peace ambassadors and advocates for peace.
- Share experiences of conflicts and contexts in which they exists.
In that regard, Sir Caroline had a two (2) days seminar from 27th-28th January 2023 with forty three (43) women in attendance, two facilitators were invited, a Priest and a Muslim cleric. They gave a talk on the theme “Interreligious dialogue and peaceful coexistence amongst Christians and Muslims women in Jalingo and Ardo Kola Local Government.
On 28th January training on skill acquisition was held with the aim of empowering the women at the end of the training, it was also sponsored by Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation. After the training, some women were given sewing machines, baking things, chemicals for making liquid soap and air freshner, things for making bean cakes and some small chops.
Sr Margaret also had hers in Shuwa that is the empowerment program.
FONDATION CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN POUR LA PAIX
Un séminaire a été organisé sur la consolidation de la paix et le dialogue
interreligieux, les conflits et la transformation, entièrement parrainé par
la fondation Cardinal Onaiyekan et certains cofondateurs. Le cours dure
normalement 3 modules, à la fin du 2ème module, il est prévu qu'un
projet de paix soit exécuté par chaque participant et le projet concerne
à la fois les chrétiens et les musulmans ; il est destiné à l'autonomisation
et l'acquisition de compétences qui contribueront grandement à réduire
la pauvreté dans leurs communautés. Après le module 3, il est attendu
que le boursier soit entièrement équipé de compétences et de connaissa
nces en matière de dialogue interreligieux, de gestion des conflits et de
consolidation de la paix.
Les boursiers pourront aussi former d'autres personnes dans leurs communautés, ce qui aura des effets multiplicateurs sur le processus.
- Une augmentation de la coopération communautaire est atteinte.
- Les boursiers deviendront des ambassadeurs de la paix et des défenseu
rs de la paix.
- Partager les expériences de conflits et les contextes dans lesquels ils
existent.
À cet égard, Sr Caroline a organisé un séminaire de 2 jours du 27 au 28
janvier 2023 avec la participation de 43 femmes, 2 animateurs ont été
invités, un prêtre et un religieux musulman. Ils ont donné une conférence
e sur le thème « Dialogue interreligieux et coexistence pacifique entre
femmes chrétiennes et musulmanes dans le gouvernement local de Jaling
o et Ardo Kola ».
Le 28 janvier, une formation sur l'acquisition de compétences a eu lieu
dans le but d'autonomiser les femmes à la fin de la formation ; elle a été aussi parrainée par la Fondation Cardinal Onaiyekan. Après la formation, certaines femmes ont reçu des machines à coudre, des articles de pâtisserie, des produits chimiques pour fabriquer du savon liquide et des désodorisants, des articles pour faire des gâteaux aux haricots et quelques petites côtelettes.
Sr Margaret avait aussi un autre séminaire à Shuwa ; cette formation est
le programme d'autonomisation.
GENERAL ELECTIONS OBSERVER FOR 2023
Sr Caroline Gogwim was appointed by Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation to serve as an observer in the just concluded general elections. They had a two days training in Abuja after which they were given the necessary materials that will authenticate them to serve as observers.

Sr Caroline Gogwim a été nommée par la Fondation Cardinal Onaiyekan
pour servir d'observatrice lors des élections générales qui viennent de
se terminer. Elle a suivi une formation de 2 jours à Abuja, après quoi
elle a reçu le matériel nécessaire qui l’authentifiera pour servir d'obser
vateur.
GRADUATION FROM CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN FOUNDATION FOR PEACE
Srs Caroline Gogwin and Margret Orbunde graduated on the 13th day of May 2023 from the Cardinal Onaiyekam Foundation for Peace programme that they enrolled in last year. The graduation was a success to the glory of God and they were awarded as peace ambassadors.
DIPLÔME DE LA FONDATION CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN POUR LA PAIX
Srs Caroline Gogwin et Margaret Orbunde ont obtenu leur diplôme le
13 mai 2023 du programme de la Fondation Cardinal Onaiyekam pour
la paix où elles s’étaient inscrites l'année dernière. La remise des
diplômes a été un succès à la gloire de Dieu et elles ont été
récompensées comme ambassadrices de la paix.
